2007 Batting 1000 Youth Advisory Grants Total $33,000
Our Batting 1000 Youth Advisory Council has recommended grants for 14 organizations to help improve the quality of life for youth and children in Saskatoon. The recommendations were approved by the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
$2,651.00 to Autism Services for boys aged 13 to 18 with Asbergers Syndrome to be engaged in activities.
$2,500.00 to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Saskatoon and Area to purchase a computer and monitor for capacity building and weekly activities for 11 youth in foster care.
$2,000.00 to Care & Share Inc. for the dignity Fund. The Fund provides community school coordinators with a Wal-Mart charge account to purchase items needed by children who cannot afford them.
$3,980.84 to Catholic Family Services of Saskatoon for two eight week programs exploring issues of violence, abuse, healthy relationships, self-esteem, etc.
$2,980.84 to Family Services Saskatoon to help at risk youth by offering drumming and drama classes four nights a week for eight months.
$2000.00 to Saskatchewan Association for Community Living to support the interaction of youths with and without disabilities.
$1,268 to Saskatchewan Intercultural Association for ConnectED a summer program for immigrant and refugee girls.
$2,000.00 to Saskatoon Association for Community Living to support the Young Adult Camp and Enriched Care Camp.
$1,250.00 to Saskatoon Indian and Metis Friendship Centre for the Family Support work program that helps parents 14-19 years.
$2,100.00 to Saskatoon Ostomy Association to send 3 kids with ostomies to camp.
$1,950.00 to Saskatoon Student Childcare Services to support high school parents.
$2,500.00 to SWITCH for Children’s Health Day and Dental Clinic.
$3,600.00 to Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. EGADZ for the Day Support Program that helps youth in jeopardy of losing their existing school or home placement.
$2,500.00 to the YMCA of Saskatoon to help at risk youth attend camp at Blackstrap Lake.
