3rd Annual Mayor’s Cultural Gala

Mayor Donald Atchison announced the 3rd Annual Mayor’s Cultural Gala will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at TCU Place.

Proceeds from the Gala will benefit the Saskatoon Community Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to make Saskatoon the best community in which to live. In its first two years, the Mayor’s Cultural Gala has raised over $500,000 for Saskatoon. The formal evening will feature multiple course fine dining and includes special performances from Saskatchewan artists, a silent auction and ballroom dance with live music to follow. 

Event Chair Myrna Bentley promises a glamorous evening featuring the best performers from Saskatchewan’s vibrant arts and cultural community.  “We have set a very high standard in the first two years of this event. Our goal is to make sure the Mayor’s Cultural Gala is the premiere cultural event of 2009 for Saskatoon.”

According to Mayor Atchison, “The Mayor’s Cultural Gala continues to showcase the exceptional artistic and cultural excellence that makes our city so special. This event was FOR SASKATOON, the benefits will be FOR EVERYONE, and the results will last FOREVER.” Trevor Forrest, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Community Foundation notes that “the Saskatoon Community Foundation grants to more than one hundred local charitable organizations every year.  The goal of the Foundations is to ensure there will always be resources available to preserve and grow our quality of life in Saskatoon.”  The Saskatoon Community Foundation has granted over $6 million to local charities since it was established in 1970.

Tickets for the Mayor’s Cultural Gala may be purchased at the Saskatoon Community Foundation Office for $325.00 per ticket or $2500.00 for a table of 8.
