Stehen and Micheline WorobetzThe Worobetz Foundation is a private foundation that purchases administration support and guidance from the Saskatoon Community Foundation, a public foundation.

Stephen and Micheline Worobetz were dedicated to initiating and supporting efforts that improved the circumstances for individuals, institutions and community.

Their social conscience prompted them to devote their lives and their resources to this cause and created the Stephen and Micheline Worobetz Foundation.

Preferences

Income earned from the Worobetz Foundation is granted by the Trustees, according to following preferences and process.

Granting follows these preferences:

(a) to support and assist registered charitable organizations, institutions and persons through qualified donees in the areas of :

  • religion, especially in the areas of Ukrainian Catholic based charities;
  • health, especially charities that are involved with research, teaching and spiritual health care;
  • education, especially projects that disseminate information regarding Catholic and Ukrainian Culture, with a portion of the granting possibility being used to support student awards; and
  • culture, especially projects that involve the Ukrainian culture, including research with the objective of increasing awareness and appreciation for the Ukrainian culture.

(b) to assist persons with special needs, especially children and youth and also seniors that are disadvantaged by way of ethnicity, health and poverty through qualified donees.

(c) to promote and encourage persons to be engaged in and to provide voluntary service in the areas of religion, health, education and culture, as defined above through qualified donees.

Granting Process

It is the intent of the Trustees that the majority, if not all, the annual granting be accomplished through the process of applications from charities. However in any year the Trustees may decide to provide grants on a pro-active basis where the Trustees identify projects to support.

The granting process will be as follows:

(a) Those charities requesting funds must use the application form (make a link to the Application form on the forms page) as designated by the Worobetz Foundation. The annual applications must be received by the the Worobetz Foundation before March 1st of each year.

(b) Applications will be reviewed by the Granting Committee of Worobetz Foundation. This review may include a site visit to the applicant’s charity, interviews with the applicants, or the request for additional information regarding the grant request.

(c) The Grants Committee will adjudicate the grant applications, and make recommendations to the Trustees for their approval.

(d) The Executive Director will contact all applicants to advise them of the decision of the Trustees. It is expected that all the applicants will be notified before May 1st of each year.

(e) For those charities that are to receive funds from the Worobetz Foundation, a signed agreement between the charity and Worobetz must be in place before the funds are provided to the charity. This agreement will detail the conditions and expectations of Worobetz in making the grant and the commitment of the charity to using the grant as requested.

(f) A follow up report from the charity is expected within nine months of the date the grant is issued to the charity. Additional reports may be required as determined by the Trustees.
